About This Spot

Stepping into B&B Bagels on 1st Avenue feels like entering a quietly bustling neighborhood gem where the rhythm of the city slows just enough to savor simple pleasures. The inviting warmth of freshly baked bagels fills the air, wrapping you in a comforting embrace as the morning light filters through the windows. This is a place where the urban pace blends with the timeless ritual of enjoying a thoughtfully crafted breakfast, whether you’re on the go or carving out a moment to pause.

The atmosphere strikes a natural balance between lively and relaxed. Regulars come and go with friendly nods while first-timers find themselves welcomed by easy smiles from the staff, who seem just as invested in brightening your day as in kneading dough and perfecting spreads. It’s a spot where small kindnesses stand out—a reminder that food is as much about human connection as it is about flavor.

At B&B Bagels, the menu quietly celebrates the everyday in extraordinary ways. The bagels themselves are a study in texture and tradition, boasting a crisp exterior that yields to a tender, chewy center. Whether paired with creamy spreads, or embraced in a breakfast sandwich warmed just right, each bite feels thoughtfully made to satisfy both hunger and curiosity. The accompaniments— from freshly brewed coffee to seasonal treats—enhance rather than overpower, inviting you to linger a little longer or step out refreshed.

While seating can fill quickly during the morning rush, the flow of the space encourages sharing its small moments with others, whether it’s a quick coffee alongside a neighbor or a quiet breakfast nook moment. Clean and casual, B&B Bagels is the kind of place that quietly fits into the rhythms of city life without asking for too much—offering instead a familiar pause and a taste of genuine care in every order.

We visited B&B on 2nd ave bagels from Arizona and we wanted a quick bagel sandwich. Let me tell you these bagels were amazing! The employees were so friendly, my son dropped his sandwich outside and they even offered to replace it (he was almost done).

I made an edit after several visits to add that when you buy food, drink and other items, DO NOT EXPECT TO FIND SEATING in the early morning rush. I was there with my spouse and a toddler, it was raining out and several folks were there with laptops open, without any food or drinks hogging up all the space. Common courtesy dictates eat and drink what you bought and move on. Staff does nothing about this and it's unfortunate that two adults and a toddler had to seek shelter in the pouring rain across the street to eat under an awning standing up. $65+ gets you standing room only in the elements to watch young twenty somethings, as self absorbed as they come, take up space with their electronic devices and not a morsel of food in sight. The cashier woman made our coffees and didn't hand them over, nor were there any napkins or utensils thoughtfully paced in the bag. Had to run back through the rain twice. Bagels and the cream cheese are fresh and perfect, though not worth this sort of hassle. Now on to my original review which still stands, except for one star docked for overall score and two docked for service. Place is immaculately clean, well lit with great decor. From the genuine wood plank look tiles to steampunk/industrial lighting. There is plenty of help behind the counter where you won't wait very long in line. The food and the presentation behind the deli case and the bagels in their racks look so good, you don't know where to begin. I got two whole wheat everything bagels, one with plain cream cheese and one with olive cream cheese. My goodness both were excellent but the olive cream cheese was a revelation. Soft, moist interior with nice firm, but not hard crust. Perfection in a bagel. My partner got a whole wheat pumpernickel - scooped out and toasted with both sides buttered. Said it may possibly have been the best bagel they ever had. The variety of cream cheeses and vegan cream cheeses, lox, etc leaves something for everyone and room to try something new, as we did. They also have other offerings like omelettes, sandwiches etc... the coffee was good - I got a large black with no sweeteners. A little smoky and darker roast but wasn't bitter and didn't have any unpleasantness associated with it. Great body and not too caffeinated. Just right. My partner had an almond milk latte which they quickly drank down. All in all a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly enough but moves quickly once you have given them your requests. A New York kinda place. As someone mentioned, our three bagels and two coffees totaled a nickel under $25- so a little pricey, but the location and quality make one not have remorse. They sweep up regularly and seem to take pride in their business here. I think this place is on a short list whenever we're in the upper east side within a mile radius.

If you're craving a real bagel — the kind that’s crisp on the outside, perfectly chewy on the inside, and generously packed with flavor — B & B Bagels delivers in every way. But what truly sets this place apart isn't just the incredible bagels (though they are some of the best you’ll find); it’s the entire experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the warm, welcoming aroma of fresh-baked bread and a friendly smile from the staff behind the counter. The team at B & B is attentive, efficient, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Whether you're grabbing breakfast on the go or sitting down for a relaxed bite, the service is consistently top-notch. I highly recommend this place!

Fast and friendly service! The bagels are the freshest in NYC, they are so good, and even better with the large variety of spread options. Try the amazing breakfast sandwiches as well! Even their coffee is top-tier! Perfect stop when exploring the city and a great spot for meeting with friends.

We stopped in this rather new bagel shop recently to check it out. Got a bagel with CC and a coffee. Both were made correctly and delicious. Service was by very friendly people. They also have a nice clean bathroom. Will definitely visit this place again.

I recently visited B&B Bagels in New York and loved the salmon bagel—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with smoked salmon and cream cheese. I also tried the turkey bacon from the breakfast menu, which was crispy and delicious. Both made for a perfect breakfast! Highly recommend B&B Bagels for fresh, tasty options.

Amazing bagel, one of the best on UES. Super chewy bagel, and amazing when they’re fresh. A bit limited on bagel variety and their lox sandwich is on the pricier side - but not a single complaint about quality and taste!

I loved my bacon egg and cheese. They had a ton of options for toppings
